19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his first title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.
His defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
